Cultivation Theory is how we perceive the actions and words of the everyday world and how we can believe anything to be true just because we see it somewhere in our lives, mostly in television, a place where most all of the situations aren't real but we believe because television tries to portray things that work that don't actually work.
The video we watched on torture from John Oliver was about how the United States during the time Obama was president tortured people in trying to find Osama Bin Laden. None of these tortures actually gained any information and the people were tortured in ways like playing Russian Roulette or rectal dehydration. This relates to the reading because we see on television that when you threaten to torture someone you'll usually get the information you want out of them but in reality not everyone that works on television works in real life.

I really liked how you explained that the torture tactics that were used, were not successful. This proves the torture it not a reasonable way to get intelligence, especially for the United States government. These tactics also make the United States look like a dangerous place to be.
